Sunday Painters – Auckland

Sunday Painters – Auckland

My mum is so clever, she works as a Baby Doctor, and while I was hanging around in her tummy, she was studying for her specialist examinations and passed! woop woop!  She did the written but then I was born so she put off the clinical until this year (and passed!!).

Anyway upshot is – when I was 6 weeks old we went out with her study group to celebrate!! It was pretty lovely.  It was the first time I had been out that late at night, and I was really angry to begin with in the car.  I cried all the way into town.  Then when we got there I breast fed like crazy to calm myself down.

I then slept in mums moby wrap while she ate dinner.  It was a long time ago now and she can’t remember what she ate, maybe it was the chicken.

All the staff were really nice to me and one lady even wanted to give me cuddles.

I had a lovely time as my first restaurant experience.

PS – sorry for vomiting on your cushions

The Federal Delicatessen

The Federal Delicatessen

The Fed is also one of mum and dads favs.  They love anything that Al Brown does.  Do you know I met him once and he signed a book to me?  So cool!

I really enjoyed The Fed, we had a cool waiter who looked after me well.  Again, like the Depot, if you order Entre and then Main, expect a wait…..my silly parents forgot about that…..and I was almost losing it before the mains came 😦  Luckily the waiter was extra cool, and found me the cutest little Cars Toy Camera to play with.  This kept me occupied for at least 10 mins.

We had the Matso Ball soup….yum, kahawai fritters and for mains the chicken, beetroot salad and poutine.  Mum’s obsessed with poutine… gravy, chips and cheese…can’t go wrong!

They don’t have highchairs for kids, and no changing facilities, but we bought our own Phil and Teds Lobster, so it was all good!

Sadly….due to my grumpiness mum and dad missed out on desert……I reckon I’m doing their waist lines a favour though! ha ha

Al brown’s Depot

Al brown’s Depot

Despite this restaurant being an absolute fav of my mum and dad, they have only bought me here once.  It was my dadas birthday, and I was 5 months at the time.

hmmmmmmm I loved the food. I bought my own high chair.  BUT……. everyone ordered entres and then mains…but it took so long to come out….and the place was so busy and heaving and NOISY….it was way way too much for me and I LOST IT BIG TIME.

I have never screamed so much in a restaurant before in my life!  woopsy.

Also mum had to change my nappy on the toilet floor, which wasn’t the best 😦

Because I lost it, mum and dad didn’t enjoy their meal as much as they usually do when they go there, and we had to run away quickly after desert……even forgot to pay (thanks nana!)

Hopefully now I’m a bit more grown up I will get to go again soon 🙂

Mexico – Takapuna

Mexico – Takapuna

This is mum and dads go to restaurant at the moment.  You just can’t beat mexican for freshness and taste!

The staff always get their Phil and Teds Lobster for me to sit in, so I feel comfortable and welcome.  It’s always really busy, so we make sure we go early around 5pm, so we can get a table.  If it’s too crazy busy it sometimes can be pretty loud for my little ears.

The decor is super cool and colourful with lots of posters on the walls, lots of interesting things to look at that’s for sure.

When I go there I always have the deep friend chicken……yummo…..naughty!  then I get bits and pieces from mum and dads tacos.  They normally try one of each and go halvies and they give me bites.

I have even eaten spicy food, which is yummy, although sometimes makes me want to pull out my tongue! eek.

Logan Brown – Wellington

Logan Brown – Wellington

Well, what can I say.  If you haven’t experienced fine dining by the time you are 10months old you haven’t lived!

This was amazeballs!  We took our own highchair (the handy phil and teds lobster).  We went early so I wasn’t too tired, and we all had an amazing time.  I was in my favourite dress.

We had the bistro menu which consisted of an amuse bush, main and desert. I helped my mum and dad eat their food.  I ate some asparagus which was perfectly cooked, i had chicken, and a little bit of beef.  I didn’t even throw one bite of it on the floor.

I was a little hungry after we finished though I have to say, as the meals were very small.

I yelled and talked a lot as I was excited to be in such a fancy restaurant, but luckily there was another baby around the corner who was even louder! so I wasn’t embarrassing mum and dad. It’s pretty cool that there was kids there, as you don’t find that in so many fine dining restaurants. Good on ya Logan Brown!

Pandan Asian Cuisene – Tawa

Pandan Asian Cuisene – Tawa

Absolutely loved this place.

My mum gets this really crazy craving for Malaysian as soon as she sets foot in Wellington.  The first night we were there we had it takeaway, and the next night we decided on a restaurant.  My aunty and uncle didn’t believe there would be one near where they live in Porirua, but my mum was determined and went crazy on google trying to find something.

This is a little cheap eat, on the main road of Tawa.  Has about 6 tables inside.  It also sells beer  and wine (yuck, can’t believe adults drink that stuff).

The staff were pretty friendly, and I even made friends with a 6 year old sitting at the next table.

We ended up here ……and it was awesome!  It was the first time I tried to suck down noodles!  I had the mee goreng, some laksa, and some roti.  I ate heaps!  I couldn’t stop.  I was covered head to toe in noodles….definitely means a good eat!  Some did end up on the floor..opps.

The only bad side was the highchair was a bit bung, it was ripped and dirty and the safety thingy didn’t do up.  Never mind, next time I go back there I may be a big girl and get to sit in my own chair. wow.
